I have been absent for a while trying to figure out what to do with this blog.  I started this blog with the intention of sharing some of my life, art and things that I've found on the internet and in the wide world. After I set up my website I found it hard to come back here and write about anything. I have loads of social media tools I seem to be dividing up what I used to put here over there, on Pinterest, tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  If I feel inspired to begin again I will but at the moment I am staying quiet over here.  To see any new work or buy anything please refer to my website at www.sharonmckenzieartist.com.  Thank you for your support.

New Website!!

I've been very busy lately preparing for another solo show, this time at the Swich Contemporary Art Space.  The show entitled Drawing Fetish opened today and the official opening is on Thursday night at 6pm.  Along with making lots of work I've also been working away on a website which I published tonight.  So if you are curious please pop on over there www.sharonmckenzieartist.com and take a look at my work.  The photographs were taken by the extremely talented LeAnne Vincent and I've made the site using weebly.

ID at the Old Courthouse Gallery

ID is an exhibition of paintings and drawings exploring contemporary perceptions of social identity.  It opens tomorrow night at the Old Courthouse Gallery, Cnr Roderick and East Sts Ipswich at 6pm.  Please RSVP via Sharon Draws Facebook event ID.

Tea drawings

Recently I entered the Ipswich Art Awards with this piece titled "Tea Readings 3" and received a highly commended.  This work sold but I am currently making more work with the subject of tea for an upcoming group exhibition in Ipswich, more on this later.

Melbourne Street Art

Wandering along in an unknown city there is something comforting about seeing the humor, beauty and  fun in art given freely to the public on buildings and street signs.  I love street art and so apparently does Melbourne, because its everywhere!

Opening Night

Here are some photographs from opening night of Reboot at Off the Kerb Gallery in Melbourne.  I also was lucky enough to go to Melbourne for a few days to attend the opening.  Melbourne is a really a beautiful place to go and very user friendly, with lots of fabulous street art and old buildings.   I found some great places via Pip Lincolne from the Meet Me at Mikes blog, who has a list of wonderful shops and food places on her Google Map here.

Re Booting in Melbourne

I am exhibiting at the Off the Kerb Gallery, Collingwood, Melbourne.  The opening is on 18th May, 2012 at 6pm.  My exhibition entitled ReBoot is in the back gallery and their are also other exhibitions opening in the other galleries that night so a fun evening of lovely art, sound good?  See you there!
